Fin dagli anni ’20 del secolo scorso Berlino si è guadagnata la fama di città ribelle e trasgressiva. Dai caffè e cabaret della Repubblica di Weimar alle provocazioni dei dadaisti, dagli squatter degli anni ’80-’90 alla scena della musica elettronica, la capitale tedesca ha saputo offrire un terreno fertile a ogni forma di capriccio e controcultura. Neanche il regime nazista e il Muro sono riusciti a sopire lo spirito anarchico della città, che ha dato prova del suo carattere sovversivo anche prima del ’900. A Berlino personalità del calibro di Bertolt Brecht, Karl Marx, Albert Einstein, Edvard Munch, Filippo Tommaso Marinetti, David Bowie e tanti altri hanno trovato il clima ideale per esprimere il loro genio indomabile. Since the 1920s, Berlin has gained a reputation as a rebellious and transgressive city. From the cafés and cabarets of the Weimar Republic to the provocations of the dadaists, from the squatters of the 80s and 90s to the electronic music scene, the German capital has been able to offer fertile ground to every form of whim and counterculture. Not even the Nazi regime and the Wall were able to subdue the anarchist spirit of the city, which proved its subversive character even before the ‘900. In Berlin, personalities such as Bertolt Brecht, Karl Marx, Albert Einstein, Edvard Munch, Filippo Tommaso Marinetti, David Bowie and many others found the ideal climate to express their indomitable genius.
